Trading card releases: prerelease, retail and product contents
A trading card set can have an early event date, a digital date and a physical retail date. It can also appear as boosters, prerelease boxes and preconstructed decks. NextUpIQ records these milestones and product types separately where the publisher specifies them.
One Pokémon expansion, three launch milestones
The Pokémon Company’s announcement for Mega Evolution—Delta Reign gives three dates: prerelease tournaments begin October 24, 2026, the expansion arrives in Pokémon TCG Live on November 5, and physical products launch at participating retailers on November 6.
The October event date identifies the beginning of the prerelease program at participating independent retailers. It does not make November 6 retail products generally available on October 24. The November 5 date describes cards in the digital app. NextUpIQ’s physical-set entry uses November 6, with the other milestones in its release note.
| Delta Reign milestone | Published date | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Prerelease tournaments begin | October 24, 2026 | Participating independent retailers / Play! Pokémon events |
| Pokémon TCG Live release | November 5, 2026 | Digital app |
| Physical retail launch | November 6, 2026 | Booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and collections |
A Homeworlds box and a Spotlight Deck contain different products
Star Wars: Unlimited — Homeworlds has a scheduled US retail launch of October 9, 2026, following its October 2 prerelease. The official product page lists a prerelease box containing six booster packs. A standard Homeworlds booster contains 16 cards.
The set also has two separate prebuilt 50-card Spotlight Decks: Chewbacca and Grand Moff Tarkin. Those decks have specified contents and are distinct from booster products. Their own catalog entry makes the product type visible even though they share the set’s scheduled retail date.
The product page describes Carbonite Edition packs as premium variant-card products. That product label should stay attached to its own listing instead of being treated as another name for the standard booster.
| Homeworlds product | Publisher-specified contents / type |
|---|---|
| Standard booster pack | 16 cards |
| Prerelease box | 6 booster packs plus prerelease materials |
| Chewbacca Spotlight Deck | Prebuilt 50-card deck |
| Grand Moff Tarkin Spotlight Deck | Prebuilt 50-card deck |
| Carbonite Edition booster | Separate premium product with variant-card treatments |
A scheduled launch is separate from local stock
Fantasy Flight Games’ September 25 Homeworlds availability update reports supply delays and warns that local stores may have limited or delayed products. As of the October 5 check, the scheduled US retail date remains October 9; the catalog notes that Carbonite availability has no revised US date.
The release date therefore describes the published schedule. It does not establish which products a particular shop will have on that day. The set announcement and the later availability notice are both relevant when interpreting a product listing.
A delivery month should remain a month
Bandai lists the One Piece Card Game English Version 3rd Anniversary Set with an August 2026 delivery month rather than an exact day. NextUpIQ keeps that month-only precision and excludes the entry from exact-day calendar exports.
Product names and contents also differ: this anniversary set is listed with a leather card case, leader and character cards, DON!! cards and a storage box. It is not the same product as a booster set or a starter deck, even though all are releases for the same card game.
